SiriusXM Acquires Business Music Service Cloud Cover Media

US broadcaster SiriusXM has purchased music for the commercial service, Cloud Cover Music.

Cloud Cover operates in the United States and Canada and provides background music to businesses such as restaurants and retail stores.

For the first, the company counts among its customers food chains such as Burger King, Taco Bell and McDonald’s.

It also works with US retail giant Walmart and various other brands from telco Sprint, to auto giants Toyota, BMW and Mercedes.

By acquiring Cloud Cover, the company joins SiriusXM’s other business music divisions, SiriusXM Music for Business and Pandora for Business, both of which fall under SiriusXM’s commercial music portfolio.

SiriusXM acquired Pandora in a $3.5 billion all-stock deal in 2018.

According to SiriusXM, the services available in its commercial music portfolio provide “comprehensive and complementary offerings for businesses of all sizes.”

The Cloud Cover Music team will continue to be led by Vice President and General Manager Mark Lehman.

According to a buyout FAQ page on Cloud Cover’s website, the company says its “music team will continue to add new artists and stations, as well as hundreds of hours of new music every month.”

Cloud Cover adds, “And we will continue to invest in making our product the easiest to use and best value on the market.

“Of course, with the vast resources and expertise of SiriusXM and Pandora backing us up, we will be able to do even more for our customers in the future.”

“We are thrilled to be part of the SiriusXM family.”
