WELCOME – During the month of June, the First Lutheran Congregation will have 7:00 p.m. services on Wednesdays. The other churches in the Circle of Faith will have their usual times for Sunday services: St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon at 8:30 a.m.; Waverly north of Welcome at 9 a.m.; and Trinity in Welcome at 10:30 a.m. Area residents are invited to join for services. Circle of Faith parishes are invited to drive the communion from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Sunday and June 19, at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome or at Waverly Lutheran north of Welcome.
There will be coffee hours on Tuesdays during the month of June from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Join your friends and neighbors for a good drink and great camaraderie.
There will be a Martin County Relay for Life fundraiser and American Cancer Society ceremonies on Saturday, June 25 at the Martin County Fairgrounds, Fairmont. This year all the programming is planned: silent auction, live auction, survivor’s tour, caregiver’s tour, lights, music and meals and many activities. Plan now to attend.
The Old 16 Bar and Grill will feature live music and karaoke entertainment every other Sunday. They also have specials like beef commercials on Fridays. Check them out on Facebook or on their website, www.Old16Inc.com. They are planning a car show during the Welcome Festival and a performance by Paul Christian from 4-7 p.m. on July 17. Shop locally.
The Welcome Summer Festival will take place on July 15 and 16. The parade is at 3:30 p.m. on the 16th. There will be inflatables, vendor shows, food trucks, tractor pulls for the kids, meals at the Legion on Friday and Saturday nights, Shell’s Hobo Band, and Groove and street dancing with the Rhino band on Main Street, and medallion hunting. Don’t miss the fun. Plan now to attend. Many clearance sales also take place this weekend.
City of Welcome sent letters to the section of the city that should install water meters. Please make an appointment to have this done as soon as possible. Make sure the grass on the properties is mowed and the sump pump is hooked up to the storm drain or to the lawn during the summer months.
