Maker Park Radio celebrates five years with a three-weekend music festival

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Maker Park Radio is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a three-weekend music festival, and although the nonprofit organization’s first scheduled music festival took place last weekend, it two weekends left to enjoy: tomorrow, Saturday, July 16 and Saturday, July 23.

All events are a suggested $10 donation at the door. All ages are welcome, although patrons 12 and under are free to enter.

Maker Park Radio teaches people about broadcasting and how to DJ. With few outlets for broadcast experience, Maker Park Radio helps people get started and works with teens and adults to teach them the skills they want to learn at no cost.

“We are truly indebted to MakerSpace NYC for believing in us and this idea, and supporting us in amplifying music and voices here on Staten Island,” said co-founder Tom Ferrie. “We are immensely proud of all the DJs who volunteer here and share their love of their love of music with us.”

Maker Park co-founder and CEO Kristin Wallace agrees. “We love to celebrate the incredible musical cultures we have here on Staten Island,” she said. “The three-weekend festival is for all DJs, artists and listeners who have involved or supported us along the way.”
