Aerosmith makes history at Fenway Park with record ticket sales

Aerosmith made history at a recent concert in Fenway Park. The show, which brought together 38,700 fans, marked the most tickets sold on the site to date, according to a press release.

The show also kicked off the band’s 50th anniversary celebrations, the statement said.

The group reacted to the monumental attendance record by sharing a photo of themselves on Instagram. The massive crowd of fans can be seen in the background.

“Thank you Boston!! You broke the record for the most tickets to any event in Fenway Park’s 110 year history! 50 years and still rocking!!” they wrote, crediting the photographer who took the photo and adding the hashtags, #Aerosmith #Aerosmith50 and #FenwayPark.

The concert was not only special because of the attendance record the band broke, the event also represented their homecoming. The band hails from Boston and to mark their return, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler made a surprise visit to 1325 Commonwealth Ave, better known as the “Aerosmith Apartment”, according to the same statement.

The apartment, which housed the original five band members, hosted Aerosmith-themed light shows before the concert at Fenway Park. The band previously visited their old apartment in 2012, playing a nearly hour-long gig that shut down the street, WCVB reported.

Additionally, the band’s concert in Boston precedes their return to Las Vegas for their AEROSMITH: THE DEUCES ARE WILD residence, which kick-off September 14 at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The residency is described as an “electrifying 90-minute live performance from the band who continue to deliver one of the most innovative and thrilling performances in music”.

The 90-minute broadcast features “exclusive, never-before-seen audio and never-before-seen visuals from the Aerosmith archives,” the statement read.

To mark its 50th anniversary, the band announced a five-week YouTube concert series titled 50 YEARS ALIVE! FROM THE AEROSMITH VAULTwhich premiered on July 29 and ended on August 26.

The series featured footage spanning the band’s 50-year career that has been remastered in high definition.

The group, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001, is known for songs such as “Amazing”, “Crazy”, “Janie’s Got A Gun”, “Livin’ On The Edge” and “Love In An elevator”, and more.
